Netflix’s new horror series, The Haunting of Hill House, is scaring audiences to the point of crying, vomiting, passing out, having anxiety attacks, and losing sleep.

Acclaimed horror novelist Stephen King has even given the show his own personal stamp of approval. On October 17th he tweeted, “THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE, revised and remodeled by Mike Flanagan. I don't usually care for this kind of revisionism, but this is great. Close to a work of genius, really. I think Shirley Jackson would approve, but who knows for sure” (@StephenKing).

Based on the 1959 novel by Shirley Jackson, the story follows five siblings who confront terrifying memories from their childhood home, Hill House, the most famous haunted house in America. As adults they reunite after the death of their youngest sister, which forces them to finally confront the ghosts of their pasts together - both literally and metaphorically.

Following the show’s release on October 12th, viewers have been taking to Twitter to share their terror.
