Following the exposure of the sexual harassment and assault epidemic plaguing film industry and the #MeToo movement, the anti-sexual harassment campaign #TimesUp rose. According to the organization’s website, they strive to “address the systemic inequality and injustice in the workplace that have kept underrepresented groups from reaching their full potential” (Time’s Up,2018). This movement provide a voice for the women of not only the film industry, but also the women in other workplaces. #TimesUp also has a legal program whose purpose is to represent women that experience sexual harassment or assault. The movement’s website provides more information on the cause. Since its start at the beginning of 2018, #TimeUp has garnered the support of over 200 lawyers and raised over $20 million for its cause. Considering the movement to gain a large amount of support in such small amount of time, it is exciting to see how much more it will be able to accomplish before this year’s end.
