Sophomore IDT 2017

[ KPBS.org ]

As many scholars already know, the presentation of learning for the Sophomore’s latest IDT project was held on Friday the 17th of November. For those few that don’t already know, on the first semester IDT project, the Sophomores are tasked with creating an interactive museum exhibit to teach a third grade science standard. These exhibits were viewed and reviewed by the officials from the San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum, as well as the third grade class from Rocksprings Elementary. This year, the groups were assigned science standards relating to topics such as the life cycle, magnetism, environments, and animal adaptations. Most groups gave a solid performance, creating very bright and interesting exhibits that gathered a lot of attention from the third graders.

Many Sophomores and other upperclassmen claim that this was their favorite IDT project stating that they enjoyed being able to show and work on their creativity, team building, teamwork, and time management skills. When asked what they enjoyed most about the IDT, multiple Sophomores stated that this project gave many opportunities to build friendships and create stronger bonds with their peers. A few others stated that the opportunity to work with third graders provided some insight into what it may be like to be a teacher, stating that it gave them extra motivation to pursue a career in teaching. Overall, I’m sure most sophomores can agree it was a great experience.
