"Ooh! Look What You Made Me Do!" - A Review of Taylor Swift's Recent Reputation

“I'm sorry, the old Taylor can't come to the phone right now..Why?..Oh, 'cause she's dead!” We all know about Taylor Swift’s recent feuds with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. How Kanye sneakily snuck in some not-so-appropriate stuff about Taylor in his song "Famous" and eventually he took ownership of Taylor’s fame. Little old Tay Tay didn’t really like what Kanye did so her response was through a song. Her recent song actually: “Look What You Made Me Do” with her new album “Reputation”. On August 28, 2017 her newest song was published but Kanye West and Taylor Swift’s feud was nearly a year ago; is she really wanting to spark another fire with Kanye? We need to face the facts about Taylor’s reputation just taking a turn for the worst.

Within her music video for “Look What You Made Me Do” she's heard in the end (3:40-4:10) arguing with her past selves, many different looks and many different themes. Ever since she was 16 years old she’s been involved with just two main genres, Country and Pop. “Seen once as a country singer. She should be doing country not pop,” Del Lago freshman Angel Rodriguez stated. This new pop video has her bathing in jewels, being served by snakes, robbing banks and so much more of these dramatic scenes. “Nobody trusts me” Taylor sings as she kicks all of her past selves down. This shouldn’t be a surprise, little innocent 16 year old, country singer Taylor Swift, turns into a 27 year old pop singer. During those years she’s been involved with multiple problems and now it’s still no surprise that her reputation is on the line.

Taylor’s reputation has been damaged ever since her song “I Knew You Were Trouble” where she sings about hanging out with a devious boy and him leaving her. Besides her acting like an irresponsible 18 year old, Taylor Swift once again got herself stuck in another problem. It just so happened to be involving another guy, a guy named Kanye West. Taylor Swift and Kanye West have been in a feud since 2009 but their recent feud has taken away her dignity. Kanye has released a song that involved Taylor Swift. Just to make sure it’s okay with her, he calls her up. The two of them have a nice and lengthy chat and came to a conclusion of a yes. Therefore he proceeds with the line, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have [hook up] Why? I made that [girl] famous..” ("Famous"). Taylor ended up going back on her word and denied ever getting this call from Kanye. Has Kanye really made Taylor famous or has Taylor herself, the one that’s used to singing about ex-boyfriends and past feuds with people, brought herself up to the top? “When you break up with someone you shouldn’t go singing about it…” said Del Lago freshman Ryan Mcelwee. This feud with Kanye is just karma from every single song she mentioned one of her ex-boyfriends or ex-friends in. She’s seen as a young adult that cannot handle problems the real way, by communicating.

After all of these feuds with Kanye West she should be humiliated; she’s going through all this trouble just to reply to the battle she’s already lost. Her reputation is a disaster and her album “Reputation” is just trash filled songs trying to get even with her enemies. Taylor Swift needs to just face her career that is slowly coming to an end.
